PROPANE SUMMER FILL OPTIONS

Jul 13, 2020

Planning ahead can bring some sweet rewards. In this case, it is getting a great rate for filling your propane tank!

“The greatest benefits to a customer are that prices are typically cheaper during summer fill so they can maximize their delivered gallons to get the best price for the winter,” said Scott Bishop, Propane Division Manager. “Over the years we have had some customers increase their on-site storage so much that all they need is a summer fill for their entire year supply. This is a benefit to the customer due to price of course but then helps us out as well as its one less place to go over the course of the winter.  Another benefit is that when winter hits the customer is already supplied with gallons and they don’t need to rush to get us to their house before a blizzard hits or the cold weather breaks.”

Not only do you get a rock-bottom rate for your propane tank fill-up, you also get peace of mind knowing your tank is filled ahead of the fall rush ahead of winter’s propane heating season. With a full tank, you won’t have to worry about dealing with having your tank filled during one of the busiest times of the year.
“In our territory propane supply is all based on allocated gallons, meaning the suppliers in our region only provide you gas in the winter based on what you buy from them in the summer,” added Bishop. “It’s a way for the supplier to even their supply logistics/cash flow.  For example, for every gallon I buy in the summer from a supplier out of a specific terminal can net me 2 gallons in the winter.  So, when we have an annual appetite of 10 million gallons and growing, we need to maximize the amount of gas we purchase in the summer to make sure we have adequate supply in the winter.  It’s not like other refined fuels in my understanding as that fuel is always available and not allocated.”
