Agtegra Announces Grants to ND and SD Rural and Volunteer Fire departments

This week, in recognition of National Fire Prevention Week and National Fire Prevention Month, Agtegra Cooperative announced that it is committing $50,000 in grants to rural and volunteer fire departments that service communities throughout its trade area in the Dakotas.

Agtegra is donating $25,000 that will be matched dollar-for-dollar through a community match program of Land O’Lakes Foundation, so that the total committed to rural and volunteer fire departments will equal $50,000. The grants will help support the ongoing training and equipment needs of those rural and volunteer departments.

Rural fire fighters are often called on to respond to not only fires, but grain bin entrapment, vehicle accidents and other incidents that involve the potential for life threatening injury.

“These emergency first responders are the lifeblood of our communities,” said Agtegra CEO Chris Pearson. “Their extensive preparation and ongoing training are essential to our farmers, their families and communities. We recognize these fire departments have limited resources, which is why we’re partnering with them to support them in all they do.”

National Fire Prevention Week is sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association and was founded in 1925 by President Calvin Coolidge in response to more than 15,000 fatalities nationally from fire incidents the previous year.
