December 26, 2018 Travis Antonsen Producer Marketing Manager Grain markets open at 8:30 this morning. CORN: Opening Call – Steady to higher We remain in a partial government shutdown and will not expect to see USDA reports this week. In addition to being in ‘Holiday Mode’ this week, the impending winter storm may throw a wrench in grain logistics. Outside markets took a tumble on Monday, but are showing some recovery this morning after the pre-Christmas sell off. SOYBEANS: Opening Call – Steady to higher March soybeans are trading right at the 100 day moving average support level. As mentioned on Monday, Brazil was getting a change in weather pattern and decent precip over their developing soybean crop this week. A widely follow crop consultant lowered his production forecast for Brazil by 1 MMT, now at 121 MMT…..citing some adverse conditions when the earliest beans were setting and filling pods. WHEAT: Opening Call – Steady to higher The winter storm will bring rains to the southern plains and some significant snow into the Dakotas today and tomorrow. Pretty quiet on the wheat front.
