Aberdeen Native Katherine Grismer Signs with Build Dakota, Agtegra

Aberdeen Central High School student Katherine Grismer has accepted a Build Dakota scholarship provided in part by Agtegra Cooperative. Grismer has enrolled in the agronomy program at Mitchell Tech and will start classes on campus this fall.

As an industry partner of the Build Dakota program, Agtegra will support a portion of Grismer’s educational expenses, while Build Dakota will cover the remainder. After she graduates from Mitchell Tech, Grismer will join the Agtegra team full time for a minimum of three years.

Grismer’s interest in agriculture developed during her time spent on her great grandma’s farm near Selby, South Dakota.

“When I was a kid, my grandma always told me the number one industry was agriculture, and I knew I wanted to be involved in it,” says Grismer.

Combined with her dad’s upbringing on a farm and her grandfathers’ careers as truck drivers, Grismer has spent the majority of her life around the farming community. One of her grandfathers was a truck driver for the cooperative.

“I’ve learned a lot of good things about Agtegra and knew this is where I want to work,” says Grismer.

Agtegra Talent Management Lead McKenzie DuFresne is excited about Grismer’s future with the cooperative.

“Katherine is open to learning about every aspect there is to know about the agronomy field, and I’m excited to see where her path will take her within Agtegra as she builds upon her education at Mitchell Tech and internship experience with us next summer,” says DuFresne.

Grismer joins Tri-Valley High School senior Aidan Heitkamp and Woonsocket High School senior Brody Miiller, who were announced as scholars earlier this spring, as Agtegra’s 2023 Build Dakota Scholars.

“We’re excited to welcome our three Build Dakota students to Agtegra and cannot wait to watch them grow during their internships and careers beyond college with us,” says DuFresne.
