Agtegra Cooperative broke ground on its new, state-of-the-art feed mill in Faulkton, South Dakota on Friday, March 27. South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden, South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development Commissioner Bill Even and Faulkton Mayor Slade Roseland provided comments at the groundbreaking ceremony, in addition to Agtegra CEO Jason Klootwyk and Agtegra Board President Rick Osterday.

“Building this feed mill lets us add value closer to home by using more of our grain right here instead of hauling it down the road,” Agtegra Board President Rick Osterday said. “It’s also an investment in the community and in the next generation. At the end of the day, that’s what a co-op is for – building generational success, supporting our member-owners, and giving folks a chance to grow in ways that keep our small towns and communities strong.”

The 100,000-ton facility, which was announced earlier this month, will prioritize biosecurity and produce complete grind-mix bulk feed, primarily for swine and poultry farms in South Dakota.  The mill will be located adjacent to Agtegra’s grain elevator east of Faulkton, where it will grind locally-sourced corn and blend it with soybean meal, vitamins and minerals to produce complete feed rations. Construction is starting soon, with the facility anticipated to be operational in 2027.
