Agtegra Donates to North Dakota and South Dakota Food Pantries

As part of its commitment to serving local communities’ food security needs, Agtegra Cooperative has donated monetary resources to 25 food pantries across North and South Dakota.

According to Feeding America, 1 in 12 South Dakotans and 1 in 21 North Dakotans face hunger. To aid in decreasing these numbers across its trade territory, Agtegra identified community- or county-based food shelf organizations to direct donations.

“We have a responsibility to our member-owners and employees to support the communities that they live and work in,” said Agtegra CEO Jason Klootwyk. “As an agricultural cooperative, we pride ourselves in our role in helping feed the world. As a community-focused organization, we must make sure our communities have access to food as well.”

Agtegra also received matching funds from a program administered by the Land O’ Lakes Foundation, which doubled the donations made by Agtegra to these community food shelves and pantries.

To celebrate National Canned Food Month in February, Agtegra hosted a companywide food drive to further its impact on food security. Throughout the month, Agtegra locations collected over 6,000 pounds in donations, which were donated to a local food shelf organization of their choosing. A total of 26 food pantries received these food donations.

“Our food drive has become a friendly competition amongst our locations and regions, and it’s awesome to see our team get excited about getting involved and giving back to their local communities this way,” said Klootwyk.
